Have you heard about Sea Walking? We had never heard of it before coming to Phu Quoc. It allows someone to explore underwater world without requiring them to master any scuba techniques. You can get up close to all the sea creatures by the coral reef. It was truly a wonderful experience.

Be aware that the water is not crystal clear here as you can see from the picture above. As we were there during the rainy season, the seawater are slightly murky.

You will be underwater for about 15 to 20 minutes. The depth is approximately 5 to 6m. Instructions will be given just before diving underwater.

When going underwater you may feel a slight change of pressure in your ears. Breathing through the helmet was just the same as breathing on land.

You will also have a personal scuba diver guiding you through the whole process, so you need not be scared. So, just enjoy leisurely exploring the marine life and plants on the coral reef.

We used klook.com to book our ticket. We highly recommend them as they provide good services, such as a private waiting area before departure, a personal boat and even provide us with a free compilation of pictures and videos from the sea walking experience.

Special Things to Do in Phu Quoc Island -Starfish Beach

For Starfish Beach, it is very important to come at the right season. The best time to come is during March and April. When the water is clear and starfish are close to the shore. The road heading to the Starfish Beach is not paved. It is a dirt road with a lot of potholes. Hence, you can expect a bumpy ride towards the beach.

  1. The route to the Starfish Beach is a dirt road so it gets very muddy and slippery.
  2. The seawater during the off seasons is usually murky, as dirt and garbage from the Mekong River usually pollutes the northern part of Phu Quoc Island.

The only way to view the Starfish is to hire a boat there which will bring you to another part of the island to view the Starfish. The price per person for a boat ride was 200,000 VND.

In order to preserve the Starfish, it is best not to pick them up but enjoy them as they are. It truly it magnificent to see so many Starfishes on the beach.

Looking for a picturesque place for a beautiful sunset by the beach? Here is the place to go. The sunset view here is one not to be missed. The whole place is a European-themed town with colorful buildings and a stunning landscape.

Since this place is relatively new in Phu Quoc, most of the shops, restaurants and houses have yet to fully be occupied. Hence, the name “Ghost town” or “Abandoned Town”.  

People normally flock here before 6pm to view the Love Hurricane Show, which is a water stunt performance at 6pm. The performance can be viewed on the beach or from the iconic Kiss Bridge. Athletes perform jet ski stunts and romantic flyboard performances. After the show, you can enjoy the sunset view by the beach.

Next, at 9pm, you can watch the ‘Kiss of the Sea Show’ which uses cutting edge technology to provide a multisensory experience at their sea-based theater. It is an impressive show full of dazzling lights and artistic performances. The whole show lasts for 35 minutes. It ends with a spectacular display of fireworks.

It depicts a love story between a young man from Phu Quoc and an alien girl who join forces to fight against the darkness that threatens peace on Earth. Its only downside was that it was narrated only in Vietnamese.

It is one of the biggest prison camps in all of Vietnam. It gives a glimpse into the lives of the prisoners, their brutal tortures, and their horrific living conditions. Numerous barracks, tiger cages, and containers for solitary confinement are present. It also features life-size replicas of brutal tortures all over the premises that look very real. Do note that this place is not for the faint of heart and not suitable for young children.

Special Things to Do in Phu Quoc Island - Sao Beach

If you are looking for clear seawater, this is the place to go. As we were there a few months back. The place was clean, and the water was clear. Some of the beach activities available there are like parasailing, jet skiing and banana boat ride. However, looking at some recent reviews on the place. The place has now been cluttered with lots of rubbish along the beach. So I think it’s best to check again before heading over so as not to waste your precious time.

This is another spot where you can watch the sunset. It’s located in the main town. It is one of the local hangout spots to chill and relax. So, after watching the sunset, you can head to Phu Quoc Night Market for a stroll and even have some delicious seafood. Phu Quoc Night Market is close by, just a few minutes’ walk. From here, it takes about 5 minutes to get there on foot, as it is only 800 meters away.
