Wonderful Family Attractions in Langkawi Island
Langkawi Island is one of the few islands in Malaysia that we have often travelled to and loved. From thrilling water sports to exciting wildlife encounters, Langkawi has something for every member of the family to enjoy. Below are some family fun attractions to do in Langkawi Island.
#1 Kilim Geoforest Park Langkawi
Opening Hours: Daily (8.30am to 5pm)
Duration Spent: 1 hour to 4 hours
Tour Packages Price Range:
- RM180 – RM350 (Online prices)
- RM250 – RM 500 (Walk – In prices)
(Note: Online charges are much cheaper compared to walk-in prices. Book online at least a day ahead.)
This Geoforest is the largest of Langkawi’s three Unesco-listed Geoparks. A must-see if you’re in Langkawi.
We booked a private boat tour, 2 hours for RM250. We visited the bat caves, fish farms, eagle watching, mangroves, crocodile caves, Kilim Geoforest icon, Shoes Island, and the Andaman Sea.
You will need to pay an additional fee to enter the Bat Cave. It cost RM2 per adult and RM1 per child.
Our guide was incredibly well-informed and skilled. He was fluent in both English and Malay language.
Recommended to arrive in the morning at 9am as water level rises at noon.
Crocodile cave and specific areas at the bat cave cannot be accessed when the tide is high.
We were most thrilled by the eagle feeding experience. Witnessing the magnificent eagles swoop down to catch their prey was exhilarating for everyone. We had an amazing time exploring all the attractions included in the package.

We visited Underwater World Langkawi for the second time, and once again, we were pleasantly impressed. Despite its age, the place was still well-maintained.
Educational and captivating for both kids and adults. Additionally, the building is air-conditioned and has ample seating options for you to enjoy the sea life.
From the underwater tunnel to the animal feeding sessions, there is so much to explore. They have a wide array of sea creatures and even some land creatures on display.

Langkawi Sky Cab is situated in the Oriental Village at the base of the Machinchang mountain range, the second tallest mountain in Langkawi. The trip from the bottom to the summit is incredible.
There are two stops along the way – one for Eagle’s Nest and the other for the Sky Bridge.
Best time to come is in the morning, preferably by 9am, to avoid the long lines. There is a long wait time during public and school holidays, sometimes up to three hours. If you want to avoid the long queues and crowds, plan your visits ahead of time.
#4 Langkawi Sky Bridge
There are two ways to reach the Sky Bridge, either by paying for the Sky Glider or the hike trail which has 324 steep steps to reach the Sky Bridge. As a family with two young kids and elderly, we opted for the Sky Glider. However, the downside was the long wait time which lasted up to an hour due to the lack of sky gliders.
We recommend buying the Sky Gliders tickets online before heading up to avoid the long lines. In addition, for those who are fit and able, just take the stairs and you can enjoy the hike too.
